About Us

Top NGO in Chennai – Rukmanidevi Charitable Trust

Rukmanidevi Charitable Trust is an NGO in Chennai dedicated to supporting children and the elderly who have nobody else to turn to. Established in 2016, our journey began with a handful of volunteers who shared one simple belief: no one should have to go hungry, miss out on education or feel alone. As a charitable organization working towards social welfare, we strive to make a meaningful difference through food donation, child education, medical assistance and elderly care.

Our Story – An NGO in Chennai Dedicated to Social Welfare

Long before we had a name or a registration number, there were just a few people who kept turning up. They spent afternoons with orphaned children, carried meals to people who had none and sat with elderly people who had been left on their own.

It was small, simple work, and it taught them something that still guides us today: kindness goes much further when it is organized.

So the group established a proper charitable trust. Today, Rukmanidevi Charitable Trust is registered with the Government of Tamil Nadu under Reg. No. 93/2016/BK4. We operate as a non-governmental, non-profit NGO in Chennai from our office in Madipakkam. Whatever we receive, whether it is money or time, goes towards supporting the people in our care.

What We Believe

We believe every child should get the chance to learn and dream, and that everyone is entitled to the necessities of life. We also believe that elders deserve dignity, patience and affection because they spend their own lives caring for others.

As a growing charitable organization, our aim is to become one of the well-known NGOs in Chennai through meaningful work, genuine care and consistent support for people in need. We believe that our actions should speak louder than our words.

The Person Behind the Work

Our Founder and Managing Trustee, Mrs. P. Sujatha, has devoted her life to service, and her experience shapes every decision we make. Recognition has never been her goal. What drives her is the child waiting for a meal and the elder who simply wants someone to talk to.

A three-member board of trustees runs the Trust, supported by a dedicated team of staff. Recently, the International Tamil University awarded Mrs. Sujatha a Doctor of Letters. We see that honor as one that belongs to every donor and well-wisher who stands with us.

How Our NGO in Chennai Supports Children and Elders

Food and Education for Children

Education can change the course of a life, which is why it sits at the heart of our work. We help children from low-income families, especially orphans, stay in school and look forward to a better future. At present, we support the schooling of 100 children.

Food matters just as much, since a hungry child cannot focus on class. That is why we also distribute meals to people in need. You can read more about our Girl Child Education and No Child Hungry missions.

Medical Care When It Is Needed

No child’s fever and no elder’s pain should go untreated just because the money is not there. We arrange basic medical care for the children and elderly living in the orphanages our Trust works with.

Where Our NGO in Chennai Works

Our office is in Ullagaram, Madipakkam. From here, we reach destitute men and women, differently-abled children, and elderly people who have been orphaned or abandoned through the orphanages we have identified.

Four missions guide us: No Child Hungry, No Child Homeless, Girl Child Education and Elders Shelter.

Be Part of Someone’s Day

Many of the small joys in the orphanages we support come from people like you. You can sponsor a breakfast, lunch or dinner on an occasion that matters to you, such as a festival, birthday, wedding anniversary or in memory of someone you have lost.

A shared meal is a simple gift, and it is remembered.

You can give in cash or in kind. Clothes in good condition, food and study materials are all welcome. We accept money orders, demand drafts, cheques, cash, online transfers, Google Pay and PhonePe, made out to Rukmanidevi Charitable Trust.

You can donate online, or contact us if you would like to sponsor a day and support our charitable initiatives.
